A traveling weekend

Last weekend was fun.

Saturday morning, we dropped Zora off at the vet and hit the road to Virginia.  We got to Dalhgren around 12:30 and checked into our hotel.  We headed to Kat's house.  Her parents had just gotten in from NC, so we just hung out talking to them and holding the baby.  George is so cute.  He makes the funniest faces while he is sleeping.  They make him look like a little old man. The baptism was Saturday afternoon.  It was went well and was quick.  George slept through the whole thing.  He let out a cry when Kat positioned his head over the basin, but when the priest poured the water on him, he stopped.  Afterwards we went to Robert's family's house.  It was good to be able to see Kat and Robert and hang out.

Sunday morning, we got up and drove to Alexandria to see Alyssa and William.  We went to brunch in Old Town.  If I shifted left and strained my head I could see the water.  We then walked around an art fair in Old Town.  Some of the art was really cool and some made you wonder who would ever buy it.  I found a couple I really liked for the house, but wasn't going to pay over $1000 for it.

The drive home was good.  There wasn't a lot of traffic.  We stopped at Dairy Queen so Pete could have a dipped cone.  That is one downfall of the South.  There aren't a lot of soft serve stands.  I really wanted to stop at Friendlys but I love Pete and gave in.

When we got home, I got some laundry started and did the grocery shopping.  Zora had to be picked up in a 10 minute window, so we headed to the vet's office.  When we got there the parking lot was full.  People were hovering outside the door wanting to be the first one to get in.  Of course the first person in wasn't just picking up his pet.  He had to pay, which you shouldn't be able to do.  Finally Zora came out without a collar.  The lady came back with her collar and told me that Zora had been fed, but hadn't eaten. That is so abnormal for our dog.  She eats everything within seconds.  We think we need to find a new kennel.  The service has gone downhill and they are so expensive.

This week has been busy.  Work has been crazy.  I have been so tired lately.   Wednesday night I went to bed at 7pm and didn't get up til 8am.

That's it for now.  Once again I am in the middle of a project review meeting.  They seem like a good time to update blogs.

Long Weekend

It was so nice to have a long weekend.  Not having to go to work for 3 days rocks!

Saturday was a lot of driving.  I had to run an errand in Raleigh and on my way back I picked Pete and we went to Sam's club.  While we were there Pete finally said yes to getting a Wii.  Of course everywhere we went was out of them.  We tried Game Stop, Sam's Club and Target.  The guy who worked in the electronics department in Target said that the Target in Wake Forest got a bunch in.  So we went home to drop off the milk and such, and got back into the car and drove out to Wake Forest.  It was a nice drive.  We had never been out there.   Anywho, we got our Wii and a Zelda game and went home to hook it up.  I only got in one short game before it was time for church, but we brought something home for dinner and played Wii tennis and golf the rest of the night.

Sunday was mostly Wii and grocery shopping.  We planned on taking Zora on a walk on the trail that goes around our subdivision, but we ended up getting lost.  She got a long walk, but not the one we intended.  We did end up seeing a lot of our division though.  Some nice houses.  I tried a new recipe for dinner.  Giada's Macaroni and Cheese.  It was very good, but very unhealthy.   It had whipping cream, whole milk and 3 kinds of cheese in it.  Delicious, but it will not be eaten frequently.

Monday was busy.  I decided I felt like baking.  I have been finding a ton of recipes and wanted to try some of them.  So I spent the day alternating between baking Pink Lemonade Cupcakes, Peppermint brownies and Blueberry Bundt Cake and cleaned the house.  It was a very productive day.  Spent the afternoon playing Wii tennis and playing with the dog.  She is getting kenneled next weekend, so we are trying to love her up a little extra. She thinks she is being punished when she is sent to the kennel.

Work this week kinda blows.  Missing a day makes the rest of the week crazy.  Too much to do in too little time.

I don't remember how much I mentioned about our next big house project, but we have picked a painter.  He is going to start sometime in October.  The hard part is picking the colors.  I have trouble picking what to eat for dinner, so picking colors that I have to look at for years is proving tough.  Tuesday, Pete and I went to Sherwin Williams and got 4 paint samples.  A light beige for living areas, a darker beige for the bedrooms and a green and yellow for the kitchen.  We painted them on foam board and I hate them all.  They were all horrible, so it is back to square one.  Fun fun!

On a happy note, a couple weeks ago Pete and I ordered the dining room set from Macy's.  The table was out of stock and won't be delivered until mid-October.  We are hoping it comes in after the painting is done.

I need to get back to the meeting I am in the middle of.  We are looking forward to going to see Kat and Robert this weekend and meeting George for the first time.  We are heading up for his baptism.  It should be a good weekend.

K. Thx. Bai.
