Last week was crazy at work. It was great. I barely had any down time. My time sheet was crazy. It took me a half hour just to get all the project codes right.

Pete got home last Wednesday/Thursday from Portland. He didnt get home til 230 am on Thursday morning. Apparently when he walked in the dog didnt even get out of her chair. She barely lifted her head to see who was coming in. I feel so safe with our excellent watch dog.

This weekend was good. Saturday was a bunch of errands. Zora got a bath. I wish I remembered to take my camera because she looks so pitiful when she is in the bathtub. It helps that she gets to explore Petco afterwards. We had a big trip to Sam's Club. I like shopping there alot better. They have everything we use and it is usually cheaper. Pete found a multipak of Land o'lakes Hot chocolate and now he is obsessed. It was ALOT cheaper than getting at the grocery store and has flavors that he will drink.

We forgot to change our clocks on Saturday night. It didnt matter much because we didnt have to get up and go anywhere on Sunday. Pete only noticed when the cable box and the wall clocks were different. The weather was perfect yesterday. We ate dinner out on the deck and Zora spent her entire day watching squirrels. Willing them to come closer to the deck.

Work this morning is a bit boring. I just got something to do. It makes for a long day.

The bruise on my finger is spreading. I really hope that I dont lose my nail. I just got back the toe nail that I lost this summer.

Things haven't been that exciting to post about.

Work is going really well. I have been really busy. I talked to my boss and things are looking really well for me to stay longer than the two months. Fingers are still crossed.

Pete is gone again. Portland, OR this time. I think the dog takes it harder than I do.

We went to the State Fair on Saturday before he left. We were only there a couple of hours. Looked at the buildings and the animals and ate a couple things and that was it. Not overly exciting.

Saturday night, much to Pete's fighting, we went to Best Buy to get him a new Game Boy. He gave his old one to my nephew for Christmas last year and has wanted the Nintendo DS for awhile. He was being good and not spending money, but I dragged him there. He had 2 long plane flights in front of him and I think he needed it. Plus I'll play with it. He got Mario for it and that is one of my favorite games and there are a couple games I have my eye on for me.

I slammed my finger in the door yesterday when I was leaving to walk the dog and now it REALLY REALLY hurts. It is swollen and turning a lovely shade of purple.

Thats about it for now.

I can't believe that today is over.

Today has flown by. It was great. Seriously, I think that today has been the best day that I have had at work. The movers came and got rid of all the boxes and of all the filing cabinets. So now there is visual proof that I actually worked. I got all but 5 of my files homes. Before I knew it is was 1200 and my boss was coming to me to tell me I had a meeting with the woman in GH. I spent the next 3 hours with her. I had missed lunch but who cares, it means I can leave early now. Though I should be gone already, but I am at the mercy of Pete and he is taking vacation next week so he has to finish some stuff up at work.

We are going out to dinner tonight with a coworker of Pete's and his wife. They are in visiting from Austin. So we are going to Maggiano's, which is great that I didnt eat lunch.

This morning Pete comes in with Zora from thier morning walk and Zora is limping. Apparently she took off full speed after a rabbit and hit the end of the leash pretty hard. Since she is on a harness, her front shoulders take the brunt. The joint feels a little off, but we are going to wait to take her to the vet to see if she just jarred it or really popped it out. We gave her a pain pill, which we had leftover from when she sprained her tail. Hopefully when we get home she will be alright.

Pete just gave the sign that he was leaving, so I am off. Have a great weekend ya'll.

Lo siento Richi pero the rest of this is going to be in English.

That part took me 30 minutes alone to write and it is almost time to leave.

Maybe I will make the Spanish post a weekly event. It was good to try and use it again, though I am sure that it isnt even near right. Practice makes decent in this case.

Til tomorrow.
I miss my old coworkers. I just talked to two of them during lunch and realized how much I really do miss UNC. Not the work, but definately the social side of it. Talking to them just made the people here look more and more anti social. You never hear people talking. Everyone is in thier cubicle or office and thats it. Maybe it was just UNC's environment allowed for it more, but I am too much of a people person not to talk to anyone all day.

Pete.....

comes home tonight! YEA! I spent all last night cleaning the apartment and doing laundry. After work today, I have to run home and walk Zora and vacuum quick and then get back into rush hour traffic to pick him up at the airport. All worth it.

Today has been a good day so far. I spent the morning playing detective and in this place that is not easy. Things dont match and noone knows where to find the information. God forbid we keep track of files.

I didnt bring lunch today because the fridge was empty. Seriously there is just mayo, pickles and diet Pepsi. I was going to suck it up and eat at the cafeteria. I had to help set up lunch for a meeting first and lo and behold, I got a free Panera box lunch. So much better than the cafeteria and it was FREE! I like free esp. since I am trying to prove that I can be good and go nowhere near my budget this week.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love field trips. Well I LOVE field trips! Anywhere really. I am happy. I got to drive over to the 800 Park and find my way around thier maze to drop something off. Much fun to go out in the middle of the day and drive around in the nice weather.

Back into the filing cabinets for me. My second home. I am going to kinda miss it. I am almost done and now they can get rid of 13 filing cabinets. That is still leaving them 6 empty ones. There people know how to store crap.

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

From about 4pm on, things just seem to go downhill. I kept trying to leave work and I had to make multiple trips back into the office. I forgot my dirty lunch dishes, then I forgot my cell phone. I finally have everything and I am almost to my car, when a very nice guy ran after me to tell me I had dropped my sweater. So I had to hike back to the building to get it. Then because I left a little later, traffic was crappy. As I am driving home, my neighbor Dana called to tell me that we can no longer work out at the gym next door to us. The agreement that our apartment complex has is a trade with a manager at the 54 one only. That just made me really grumpy. I was looking forward to working out to get out some stress. Instead I walked the dog longer.

Last night perked me up a little. Dana and I let the dogs play for awhile and then walked to TCBY for some frozen yogurt. They had Juicy Orange, which is my favorite. We were sitting outside the store and it was such a nice night. Then I don't know what happened, but both dogs became stupid. It was like all the training they have had was gone. I expect that Captain sometimes, but Zora. She was horrible. On the walk home, she figured out that she was in trouble and started behaving.

I can't wait for Pete to come home. I need a good night sleep. I have trouble sleeping in an empty apartment. I have had this problem since I was little when my brother told me that in the middle of the night someone was going to crawl in my window off the garage roof and kill me in my sleep. Ever since then, I can't sleep in a place by myself. When I was growing up even the alarm system didn't help. Every little sound I hear is someone breaking in.

I have a lot of work to do before Pete gets home though. When he goes away, I slip into slob mode. I don't do it often and when I do it annoys me, but it still happens. The bedroom looks like the closet threw up. The kitchen is strewn with dishes, mostly clean but a couple dirty. The rest of the apartment is clean though. I will need to vacuum though. The moose (Captain) has been there and he sheds like mad.

Speaking of shedding, is it normal for a dog to shed so much. He is a full blooded lab and everyday when he is brushed a small dog comes off of him and even after that is just flies off him. Zora doesn't shed much. About once a year, a major shed happens and if you petting her and she gets up, there is a outline of where she was in dog hair, but that's it. Captain sheds all the time. All seasons. He isn't balding, but it still doesn't seem normal.

I have to head back into the filing cabinets. I am not looking forward to this. It has come down to the most tedious part of the entire project and I have put it off as much as I can.

Weekend

This weekend was relaxing. Pete left Saturday morning for Boston. I drove him to the airport with the dog. As we were pulling away from the terminal, Zora started whining in the backseat. She was so pitiful. She spent the rest of the trip home on my lap. She quickly forgot about Pete being gone though as soon as Petsmart came into view. She spent 5 minutes watching this little gerbil go back and forth in its cage. It was really funny to watch her head go back and forth with the gerbil. She was happy when we left cuz she got a new wiggle. Well that is what we call, it is actually that long stuffed dog that you see on Petsmart commericals. She loves those things.

The rest of the weekend was uneventful. I mostly watched TV and read. Zora got a couple long walks and played with Captain. It has been awhile for her to do that since he was infested with fleas, but now has a clean bill of health.

Today is kinda rough. It seems like I cant get anything done. We had to take care of some catering for a meeting and they are slobs. I went to clear breakfast so lunch could come in and there was stuff everywhere. It was a nice break though and required multiple walks to the building next door. The meeting was in the boardroom on the executive floor and they have some really nice bathrooms.

My lunch has been over for a bit so I should try and get some work done.

A downfall of this job....

is all the food. These people love to eat. There is always baked goods and candy. There are two bowls of candy that sit outside the office that I go in and out of all day. One can only have so much self control. To make matters worse all you do it sit here. I am luckier than most and get to pack boxes, but it doesnt do much.

I have gained 8 pounds since I started working here. Between the food and getting home later than before and traffic getting to the gym, things have gone downhill. Since I am can go the gym next door now, things are starting to get better. I worked out with my neighbor on Wednesday and went last night at like 8pm.

I was one of the evil ones at work today. I got into a baking mood last night and made turtle brownies and two kinds of muffins. I love to bake, but eating it is the bad part.

Gotta love Moms!

Pete and I woke up this morning to a news report of the large chemical fire in Apex, about 24 miles from us. Once we saw it on the front page of CNN, we just waited for the call to come from his mom. About 7:15, it came. Without fail, we can count on her calling to check on us. Sometimes we learn stuff from her first before the news. When the crazy man drove through the quad at UNC, I got calls from my mom and MIL before I even knew what happened and I was like 3 minutes from where it was happening. We learn about recalls and warnings too. Apple juice, spinach, computer batteries.

TV update

Lost started last night. It was pretty good. It looks like it is going to be an interesting season. I dont know how I feel watching on TV though. We have watched the last 2 seasons on DVD and were able to keep watching to find out what happens. I am not a patient person.

The Office and Greys are tonight and I am excited. I love those two shows.

There are alot of new shows I am watching. Well DVRing at this point. I have a huge list waiting for me at home to watch. Nothing that I am overly excited about.

Happy Thoughts!

This week has flown by. Work has been great. I have been busy all week and I am still enjoying it. As I write my desk is covered, which means I wont be bored the rest of the day. Happy thoughts.

Other than work, things have been quiet. Poor Zora though. She has had a hard adjustment to both of us working. She is very very hyper when we get home. When I worked at UNC, she wasnt home alone as much. Pete went in later and I came home early, so there was only a small chunk of time she was alone. Now Pete and I leave at the same time and come home at the same time. Some days I come home, walk her and leave to go the gym. She is lonely I think.

On a happy note, our apartment gives us a free gym membership. In July, I quit Curves and started taking advantage of it. Since I started working I havent been going because by the time I get home I dont want to go back out 54 in rush hour traffic to a packed gym to workout. Well here is the happy thing, our gym was taken over by Peak Fitness and Peak Fitness also took over the gym in the shopping plaza the next street over from us. Pete called (cuz I hate calling places and people. I always feel like I am putting them out. In the past couple years I finally got the nerve to order pizza) and found out that we can use the one next door with our membership. Now I dont have to fight traffic and go far to work out, which means I will work out more. AND the one next door is open 24 hours a day. Not that I would, but I could work out late at night.

On another happy note, and this happened weeks ago, I just forgot to tell everyone. The end of September holds two of my friends birthdays. I had thier cards and needed extra postage, cuz they were the new musical ones from Hallmark. So I figured I would kill three birds with one stone and walk the dog to the post office, get my extra postage and pay with it with all the extra change I had. (I hate change. I always have a ton and forget about it cuz it is a pain to dig it out when you are standing in a line at a store. I feel like the people are swearing at me as I pay in nickels just like I swear at the people who still write checks at the grocery store and Target.) We get to the post office and I find out the machine I wanted to use only takes credit card. I swear for a minute and then go and find another stamp machine. It takes pennies. What a happy day. I start feeding pennies in. (Mind you its Sunday night and the post office is empty) (Being it was Sunday night, one of the cards was already late. I am bad like that) Anywho, I figured I needed $1.56 in stamps. I used all my pennies and got to $1.31. Damn that was alot of pennies and it took awhile. Pete and Zora were waiting patiently outside, well kinda. Pete finally came in and Zora had her nosed pressed to the glass door wanting to come in. I used the rest of my nickels to finish the purchase and I was done. I was pysched (1) to have the cards in the mail finally and (2) I used almost all my change. I had a few quarters left but thats ok. Pete can use those for his quarter sodas and snacks at IBM. I walk out of the post office that night very satisfied.

I know that was a wierd story, and probably drawn out more than it needed to be, but oh well.

I have the greatest husband ever. Yesterday I woke up to breakfast in bed and then he spent the morning cleaning the apartment. He even pulled the stove out and cleaned behind it. It definitely needed to be done. We have lived in our apartment for 3 years and haven't done it and from the looks of it it hasn't been done long before we moved in. I went to do the grocery shopping and came back and Pete had cleaned my bathroom. It may not seem like alot, but we have separate bathrooms and they are each out own responsibility. I am a little lax about cleaning mine unless company is coming. My hair tends to overtake the sink and floor and it only bothers me in the morning when I am getting ready and I don't have time to clean then and by the time I come home I forget about it. Cleaning my bathroom is a huge sign of love.

The rest of the weekend was good. Saturday, I got up early and walked the dog before Pete got up and then I cooked breakfast. We then cleaned my car inside and out during which I found my ID card that I lost my first day of work. We then took the dog for a long walk through the woods and went shopping at Sam's. Saturday night was church and dinner. Sunday afternoon I had Eucharistic minister training. I feel that its time for me to do something for the church.

Work is at bit of a stand still right now. I am out of boxes and the trash can is full and I am having problems with access to Outlook to work on some projects, so I am doing busy work, which obviously consists of me updating my blog and reading blogs.

Its almost lunch and I am starving.
